Smoothies. Cold. Creamy. Delicious. Refreshing.

What comes to mind when you think about smoothies?

Smoothies are great because they whip up so darn quickly and can make a great breakfast on-the-run as well as a nourishing post-workout meal. You can have your clean carbs, lean protein, and healthy fats all in one glass. Plus, it’s a great place to add some superfood boosts, like maca, matcha, avocado, coconut oil, and chia seeds. Of course, making it yourself is the only way to ensure that you’re not ingesting a sugar bomb that’s usually found on the menu at the local smoothie joint.

Now that it’s strawberry season, we are excited to be using one of our favorite berries. Organic, of course, because they are on the Dirty Dozen list. Strawberries are sweet and juicy and provide you with lots of vitamin C and fiber.

To make our smoothie extra creamy, we like to throw in a half of a frozen banana. That reminds us of our banana tip we want to share with you: when your bananas get lots of spots on them, peel them and place them in a zip-top baggie and put them into the freezer. Then you’ll have them when you’re ready to make a smoothie. Frozen bananas lend sweetness, creaminess, and keep the texture nice and thick, so you don’t have to add any ice!
